The Origin of Stretch Therapy
The Stretch Therapy program is based on Kit Laughlin's Integrated Exercise System
Kit studied oriental medicine during a five year stay in Japan, and was the Japanese Ambassador’s shiatsu practitioner. He was awarded a Master of letters degree by the Science Faculty of the Australian National University in 1992. Back pain was the main case study.
During the same period, he established the Posture and Flexibility (P&F) and Strength and Flexibility courses at the Australian National University Sport and Recreation Association. Using the principles of Eastern and Western medicine, Kit has designed a system that provides a way to stop back and neck pain, improve performance and protect you against future injury. Assisted by fifteen teachers whom he trained, these courses have been running at the university for over twenty years. It is a rapidly evolving exercise program that is constantly tested and reassessed for maximum safety and effectiveness.
Kit Laughlin is an internationally-renowned teacher. He has been presenting workshops in Vancouver, and around the world to many thousands of students of all ages, with proven results. He is a strength & flexibility consultant to elite athletes and the president of the National Association of Stretch Therapists.
